Chris Morris: podcast appearances and interviews

Chris Morris is the CEO of Full Fact and the BBC’s first on-air fact checker. He is affiliated with the West Virginia Data Economy Office. Morris has a background as an English comedian, satirist, radio presenter, actor, and filmmaker. He is recognized for his deadpan and dark humour, as well as his use of surreal and controversial subject matter. His work often features an uncompromising, moralistic approach, which has garnered critical praise. In the early 1990s, Morris co-created On the Hour on BBC Radio 4, a satire of news programmes, which led to the television series The Day Today. These shows played a significant role in shaping British satire and launching the careers of notable comedians such as Steve Coogan. He developed the satirical news format Brass Eye, initially known for its satire on topics like crime and drugs. The episode titled Paedogeddon, which lampooned the moral panic around paedophilia, became one of the most complained-about programmes in British television history. Morris’s work has often been controversial, including the cult radio show Blue Jam, which was adapted into the TV series Jam and earned him a BAFTA Award. He also co-wrote the sitcom Nathan Barley, and appeared in The IT Crowd. His directorial debut was Four Lions, a satirical film on Islamic terrorism that received positive reviews and earned him a BAFTA. He subsequently directed episodes of Veep and the films The Day Shall Come and others, contributing to both television and film with his distinctive satirical style.
