Chris Kreider: podcast appearances and interviews

Chris Kreider is the Associate Head Coach of Men’s Basketball at Rice University. He has a background in professional sports, primarily as a hockey player, but his current role involves coaching basketball at the collegiate level. Kreider was born on April 30, 1991, and grew up in Boxford, Massachusetts. He played high school hockey for Masconomet Regional High School and Phillips Andover, leading his team to the New England Prep semifinals and earning the title of New England Prep Player of the Year during his junior year. He attended Boston College, where he played college ice hockey from 2009 to 2012. Kreider was drafted in the first round, 19th overall, by the New York Rangers in the 2009 NHL entry draft, before beginning his professional career. He made his NHL debut during the 2012 Stanley Cup playoffs and set a league record for most playoff goals before playing a regular season game. Kreider split his early professional years between the NHL and its affiliate in the American Hockey League, becoming a regular on the Rangers' NHL roster in the 2014–15 season. Despite facing injuries, he achieved personal and franchise records and was recognized with two NHL All-Star Game selections and the Rangers' Steven McDonald Extra Effort Award. During the 2024 Stanley Cup playoffs, he became the Rangers' all-time leader in playoff goals, power play goals, and game-winning goals. Kreider also represented the United States internationally at junior and senior levels, winning a gold medal at the 2010 World Junior Championships and earning two bronze medals in other tournaments.
