About Chris Dudley
Chris Dudley is an American former professional basketball player and politician, born on February 22, 1965. He played 886 games across 16 seasons in the NBA, representing teams such as the Cleveland Cavaliers, New Jersey Nets, Portland Trail Blazers, New York Knicks, and Phoenix Suns. Notably, he participated in the 1999 NBA Finals during his second season with the Knicks. Dudley was recognized as a journeyman center primarily valued for his defensive abilities as a rebounder and shot blocker. Despite his defensive skills, he was also known for his notably poor free-throw shooting. Outside of his basketball career, Dudley has been involved in politics. In 2010, he was the Republican nominee for Governor of Oregon, narrowly losing to the incumbent Democrat John Kitzhaber. He also ran as a candidate for the 2026 Oregon gubernatorial election but was defeated in the primary by Christine Drazan.
