Chris Bates: podcast appearances and interviews

Chris Bates is an American jazz bassist with a diverse musical background. He began studying upright bass in the fourth grade and went on to attend the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Throughout his career, Bates has performed in multiple genres including jazz, reggae, funk, country, folk, and classical styles. He has collaborated with notable musicians such as Mose Allison, Lee Konitz, Joe Lovano, Steven Bernstein, Howard Levy, Ira Sullivan, Eric Alexander, Tim Sparks, and Dean Magraw. Bates was a member of the band Motion Poets, which was formed in 1993 and released three albums that received critical acclaim. In 1999, he was awarded a McKnight Composers Fellowship for his compositions and has contributed to over 30 albums. His debut album as a bandleader was released in 2012. In addition to his musical career, Chris Bates is also known as a dating coach and author of the book The Dating Edge. He is affiliated with Agora Eversole.
