Chesa Boudin: podcast appearances and interviews

Chesa Boudin is an American lawyer who served as the 29th district attorney of San Francisco from January 8, 2020, to July 8, 2022. He is a member of the Democratic Party and has been involved in efforts to implement criminal justice reform policies aimed at reducing incarceration. Boudin graduated from Yale University and was a Rhodes Scholar at St Antony's College, Oxford. After earning his Juris Doctor from Yale Law School in 2011, he clerked for two federal judges and served as a deputy public defender in San Francisco. He was elected district attorney in 2019, during which time he pursued initiatives such as bail reform and alternatives to prosecution and sentencing. His tenure was marked by a focus on reform and criticism, with some alleging mismanagement of his office and perceiving him as being soft on crime. This controversy led to a recall election in June 2022, in which 55 percent of voters supported his removal from office. Beyond his service as district attorney, Boudin is the founding executive director of UC Berkeley's Criminal Law and Justice Center, contributing to scholarly and practical discussions on criminal justice.
