Charles Spence: podcast appearances and interviews

Charles Spence is an experimental psychologist affiliated with the University of Oxford. He leads the Crossmodal Research Group, which specializes in studying the integration of information across different sensory modalities. Spence also teaches experimental psychology to undergraduate students at Somerville College, Oxford. His research interests include multisensory design, human-computer interaction, and the sensory evaluation of foods. Spence has conducted studies on human-computer interaction issues related to the crew workstation on the European Space Shuttle. He is involved in research aimed at designing foods that stimulate the senses effectively and examining how indoor environments influence mood, well-being, and performance. As a consultant, he advises several multinational companies on multisensory design aspects. Over the past decade, Spence has published more than 500 articles in scientific journals. His work has been recognized with numerous awards, including the 10th Experimental Psychology Society Prize, the British Psychological Society: Cognitive Section Award, the Paul Bertelson Award for European Cognitive Psychologists of the Year, and the Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Research Award from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in Germany.
