Charles Louis Busch, born on August 23, 1954, is an American author, actor, screenwriter, playwright, and drag queen. He is known for his performances on stage in his own camp style plays as well as appearances in film and television. Busch began his career in the late 1970s, writing and starring in off-off-Broadway productions, often in drag roles, and also acting in works by other playwrights. He expanded his work to include television writing and acting in films and TV starting in the late 1990s. Among his most notable works is the play The Tale of the Allergist's Wife, which premiered on Broadway in 2000 and achieved considerable success.
