Cathy Smith: podcast appearances and interviews

Catherine Evelyn Smith, also known as Silverbag, was a Canadian backup singer, groupie, drug dealer, and legal secretary. She was involved in the life of actor John Belushi and served fifteen months in the California Institution for Women for injecting Belushi with a heroin and cocaine overdose that contributed to his death in 1982. Smith gained public attention after appearing in a front-page headline story in the Hollywood tabloid the National Enquirer, where she claimed responsibility for administering the fatal drug overdose. She co-authored the book Chasing the Dragon in 1984, which recounts her life story and references her heroin addiction through its title. Smith also appears prominently in Bob Woodward's book Wired: The Short Life and Fast Times of John Belushi, published in 1984, and was portrayed by Patti D'Arbanville in the 1989 film adaptation. Her life was marked by her involvement in the entertainment industry, her struggles with addiction, and her legal issues related to her drug dealings and her connection to Belushi's death.
