Carson James Wentz, born December 30, 1992, is an American professional football quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League. He played college football for the North Dakota State Bison, leading the team to two consecutive NCAA FCS national championships as the starting quarterback. Wentz was selected second overall by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2016 NFL draft, making him the highest drafted player from an FCS school. His most notable NFL season was in 2017 when he guided the Eagles to the NFC’s top seed before suffering a season-ending injury. Despite his injury, the team went on to win Super Bowl LII with Nick Foles at quarterback, and Wentz received Pro Bowl and second-team All-Pro honors that year. He helped Philadelphia return to the playoffs in subsequent seasons, although injuries limited his playing time. After experiencing a decline in production and losing his starting position, Wentz spent four seasons with multiple teams including the Indianapolis Colts, Washington Commanders, Los Angeles Rams, and Kansas City Chiefs, serving both as a starter and backup. In August 2025, he signed with the Minnesota Vikings, continuing his professional football career.
