Caroline Thompson, born on April 23, 1956, is an American novelist, screenwriter, film director, and producer. She has contributed to several notable films, including writing the screenplays for Tim Burton-directed movies such as Edward Scissorhands and Corpse Bride. She also co-wrote the story for Edward Scissorhands and collaborated with director and choreographer Matthew Bourne on a new stage adaptation of the film. Additionally, Thompson adapted the screenplay for the 2011 film version of the fantasy series Wicked Lovely, although the production was ultimately put into turnaround. Her directing credits include the 1994 adaptation of Black Beauty, the 1997 film Buddy which she also wrote, and the 2001 television film Snow White: The Fairest of Them All, which she produced and co-wrote.
