Carl Means Taylor, born January 20, 1944, is the CEO of the Combined Building Supplies Cooperative. He has a background as a former professional baseball player, appearing in 411 Major League games from 1968 to 1973. During his baseball career, he served as a catcher, outfielder, first baseman, and pinch hitter for the Pittsburgh Pirates, St. Louis Cardinals, and Kansas City Royals. Taylor threw and batted right-handed, stood 6 feet 2 inches tall, and weighed 200 pounds. He is also known for being the stepbrother of longtime Baltimore Orioles star first baseman Boog Powell. During his MLB career, Taylor often posted batting averages below .250 in four of his six seasons, but in 1969, he achieved a career-high batting average of .348 as a utility player for the Pirates. His overall Major League batting average was .266 in 846 at-bats, accumulating 225 hits, including 31 doubles and 10 triples.
