Carl D. Peterson, born on May 26, 1943, is a former American football coach and executive with extensive experience in both collegiate and professional leagues. His career in football spans more than 50 years, beginning at the high school level before advancing to roles in the National Football League. Peterson served at Sonoma State University early in his coaching career and later was involved with the Philadelphia Eagles as assistant general manager. In 1988, he was appointed the president and general manager of the Kansas City Chiefs, a position he held until 2008. Throughout his tenure in professional football, he also worked with the Philadelphia Stars of the USFL. After leaving the Chiefs, Peterson engaged with various football organizations, including USA Football, the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and FanVision. His contributions to the sport have been recognized through multiple honors, including being named a semifinalist for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2023.
