Carl Holden: podcast appearances and interviews

Carl Holden is an American who played professional baseball in the Negro leagues during the 1960 season. Born in Madison, Alabama, on August 22, 1941, Holden was a catcher for the Birmingham Black Barons before transitioning to semi-professional teams. Throughout his career, he played for various teams including the Huntsville Hawks and the Huntsville Braves, where he served as the starting catcher and was known for his strong arm. Holden also participated in spring training with the Baltimore Orioles in 1960, but injuries limited his involvement. After his stint with the Black Barons, Holden returned to semi-professional baseball, serving as team captain for a local American Legion team for several years. Following his baseball career, he established a successful small business and dedicated effort to raising awareness about Negro league baseball history. In recognition of his contributions to athletics, Holden was inducted into the Madison County Athletic Hall of Fame in 2004. He resides with his wife, Hattie, and has two children.
