Brian Kerr is an Irish football manager known for his extensive career in coaching and football administration. Born in Dublin on 3 March 1953, he developed an early interest in football and boxing and began coaching at the age of 13 with the Crumlin United under-11 team. Recognizing that he might not reach the top as a player, Kerr chose to focus on coaching and later served as manager of St Patrick's Athletic, a club in the League of Ireland, starting in 1986. During his tenure with the club, he was involved in efforts to save the team from financial difficulties, including contributing to a fund-raising initiative in 1992. Kerr transitioned to a national-level role when he became the technical director of the Football Association of Ireland in December 1996, working with both youth and senior national teams. In January 2003, he was appointed as the full-time manager of the Republic of Ireland senior football team. Kerr's career continued in football administration when he took on the role of Director of Football at St Patrick's Athletic in 2007. Subsequently, in 2009, he was appointed head coach of the Faroe Islands national team, a position he held until October 2011. His career has been marked by a dedication to developing Irish football and engaging in international coaching roles.
