Bradley Carnegie Thorn, born on 3 February 1975, is a former rugby league and rugby union player who has also worked as a rugby union coach. Born in New Zealand, Thorn represented Australia in rugby league and New Zealand in rugby union throughout a twenty-two-year playing career that began at age nineteen and concluded at age forty-one. He played rugby league for the Brisbane Broncos in the National Rugby League and competed in the Super League for ten seasons across two separate periods. During his rugby league career, he won four grand finals, often played as a second-row forward, and occasionally served as a prop. Thorn represented Queensland in the State of Origin series and played eight times for Australia, including five appearances for the Kangaroos and three for the Super League Australia team. In 2000, he was awarded the Australian Sports Medal for his contributions to Australia's international standing in rugby league. Transitioning to rugby union in 2001 in his mid-twenties, Thorn played as a lock and achieved notable success. He became the first player to win a World Cup, a Super Rugby title, and the Heineken Cup. Over his rugby union career, he earned 59 international caps for New Zealand and was a member of the team that won the 2011 Rugby World Cup. Thorn is also recognized for being the oldest player to participate in and win a Rugby World Cup final at the age of 36 years and 262 days.
