Bonnie Lynn Raitt, born on November 8, 1949, is an American singer and songwriter known for her roots-influenced music that combines elements of rock, blues, country, and folk. She released her self-titled debut album in 1971 and subsequently gained critical acclaim for her work as a session player and collaborator with artists such as Warren Zevon, Jackson Browne, and Leon Russell. Her career saw a significant upswing in 1989 with the release of her tenth studio album, Nick of Time, which reached number one on the Billboard 200 chart and earned the Grammy Award for Album of the Year. This album, along with her subsequent multimillion-selling albums Luck of the Draw and Longing in Their Hearts, produced hit singles including Love Sneakin' Up On You, Something to Talk About, and I Can't Make You Love Me. Her 2022 single Just Like That won the Grammy Award for Song of the Year. Raitt has received 13 Grammy Awards from 31 nominations and has been honored with a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. She was ranked number 50 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 100 Greatest Singers of All Time and number 89 on the list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.
