Blake Edwards, born William Blake Crump on July 26, 1922, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, was an American filmmaker, producer, and screenwriter. Throughout his career, he was recognized for his work primarily in comedy, but his filmography also includes drama, musical, and detective genres. Edwards began his career in the 1940s as an actor and later expanded into writing screenplays and radio scripts. He subsequently moved into producing and directing for television and films. His notable works include the films Breakfast at Tiffany's, Days of Wine and Roses, A Shot in the Dark, The Great Race, 10, Victor/Victoria, and Blind Date. He is perhaps best known for the Pink Panther film series starring Peter Sellers. In addition to his filmmaking achievements, Edwards later engaged in writing, producing, and directing for theater.
