Bill Welychka: podcast appearances and interviews

Bill Welychka is a Canadian television personality and music artist known for his work as a VJ for MuchMusic and MuchMoreMusic from 1992 to 2005. Born and raised in Welland, Ontario, he began his career at CHUM Limited in 1988 as a video editor for MuchMusic. He later transitioned to an on-air role, hosting the channel's country music series Outlaws & Heroes in the early 1990s, and in 1995, he became the host of the world music show ClipTrip while also performing regular duties as a videoflow host. Welychka continued with MuchMusic until 2000 when he moved to MuchMoreMusic. In 2005, he joined CKEM in Edmonton to host Breakfast Television following the station's rebranding as Citytv. The following year, he became the weather anchor for A-Channel in Ottawa, a position he held until 2011. He subsequently joined CKWS-TV in Kingston and contributed a column to the Kingston Whig-Standard as well as appearing on CFMK-FM. In 2023, Welychka published his autobiography titled A Happy Has-Been: Exciting Times and Lessons Learned by One of Canada's Foremost Entertainment Journalists. His employment with CKWS was terminated in January 2024 due to cutbacks at Global News, and he was also laid off from CFMK-FM in July 2024 when the station's on-air personalities were let go.
