Bill Carter, born in 1966, is a writer and director with experience in both documentary filmmaking and authorship. He directed the documentary film Miss Sarajevo, which features amateur video footage he captured during his stay in Sarajevo while it was under siege. Carter is also the author of Fools Rush In, a memoir recounting his experiences working for an aid agency during the Bosnian War. His work extends to teaching journalism and film at Northern Arizona University, where he shares his expertise with students. Additionally, Carter wrote and served as executive producer for Kiss the Future, a feature documentary that tells the story of his collaboration with the band U2 during the siege in Sarajevo, focusing on their efforts to broadcast live video messages to Europe. As a Fellow Emeritus of the OCP Foundation, Carter's career reflects a commitment to documentary storytelling, education, and documenting significant historical events.
