Ben Stein is the founder and head coach of Purpose Up. He is an American writer, lawyer, actor, comedian, and commentator on political and economic issues. Stein began his career as a speechwriter for U.S. presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford before transitioning into the entertainment industry. His roles include playing an economics teacher in Ferris Bueller's Day Off, hosting the game show Win Ben Stein's Money, and acting as Dr. Arthur Neuman in the films The Mask and Son of the Mask. In addition to his acting career, Stein co-wrote and starred in the 2008 film Expelled, which generated controversy for promoting pseudoscientific intelligent design creationist claims. Known for his distinctive droning and deadpan delivery, Stein's work spans a variety of media and genres. He is the son of Herbert Stein, an economist and writer who served at the White House during the Nixon administration.
