Ben Sasse: podcast appearances and interviews

Benjamin Eric Sasse is an American politician and academic administrator who served as a United States senator representing Nebraska from 2015 to 2023. He is a member of the Republican Party and is known for his critical stance towards Donald Trump. Sasse was one of seven Republican senators who voted to convict Trump of incitement of insurrection during his second impeachment trial. Born in Plainview, Nebraska, he pursued higher education at Harvard University, St. John's College, and Yale University. Sasse has held academic positions at the University of Texas and served as an assistant secretary in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services during the George W. Bush administration. In 2010, he became the 15th president of Midland University in Fremont, Nebraska. Following his election to the Senate in 2014 and re-election in 2020, he resigned in January 2023 to assume the role of president at the University of Florida. Sasse resigned from this position in July 2024 due to his wife's health issues and later disclosed in December 2025 that he had been diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer. While his career includes roles in politics and academia, he has also been affiliated with SouthState Bank.
