Ben Chapman was affiliated with The Springs Church. His career history is based on his family name William Benjamin Chapman, who was an American professional baseball player and manager. He was born on December 25, 1908, and passed away on July 7, 1993. Chapman played as an outfielder in Major League Baseball from 1930 to 1946, most notably with the New York Yankees. During his playing career, he was a four-time All-Star and was part of the 1932 World Series-winning team. From 1926 to 1943, Chapman led the American League in stolen bases four times and was known for his speed and base-running skills. Over his 12-season career, he maintained a batting average of .302 and led the league in assists and double plays twice each. After his time in the major leagues, he spent two years in the minor leagues and later returned to the majors as a pitcher in the National League for three seasons. He also served as a player-manager for the Philadelphia Phillies, his final team. In 1947, Chapman managed the Phillies and became a controversial figure due to his antagonistic actions towards Jackie Robinson, including shouting racist epithets and resisting Robinson's presence on the team. His conduct during this period was considered unsportsmanlike and brought embarrassment to his team. Chapman was dismissed from his managerial position the following year and did not manage in the major leagues again.
