Baz Warne: podcast appearances and interviews

Barry Warne, born on March 25, 1964, is an English musician known primarily as the guitarist and vocalist of The Stranglers. Earlier in his musical career, he played guitar and served as frontman in several bands, including the Sunderland punk band Toy Dolls, with whom he recorded two singles after joining as a bassist in 1983. He also formed the Troubleshooters in 1985, which later became the Smalltown Heroes in 1992. The band released multiple singles, including the interactive CD-ROM single Moral Judgement, which received notable recognition from Kerrang magazine. Their only album, Human Soup, was released in 1996, but the band disbanded in 1998 after their record label ceased funding during the recording of a planned second album. In that summer, Warne formed a retro-rock cover band called Sun Devils. In 2000, he auditioned successfully for The Stranglers, a band he had met earlier in 1995 when supporting them on tour. Following his induction into the band, Warne performed across Europe and contributed to both studio recordings and live performances, including singing lead vocals on many tracks from the albums Suite XVI, Giants, and Dark Matters. His first gig as the band's lead vocalist was in 2006 at Weston-super-Mare. Warne has also collaborated with other artists, such as playing guitar on Scott Michael Cavagan’s debut album in 2017. In 2020, he formed the side-project Wingmen with notable musicians and released a self-titled album in 2023. Additionally, Warne served as the main narrator for the short film Passing Ships in 2022, which aimed to raise awareness of mental health and male suicide.
