Audre Lorde: podcast appearances and interviews

Audre Lorde was an American writer, professor, philosopher, intersectional feminist, poet, and civil rights activist born on February 18, 1934, and who passed away on November 17, 1992. She identified herself as a Black, lesbian, feminist, socialist, mother, warrior, and poet, dedicating her life and talents to confronting various forms of injustice and oppression. Lorde believed that there could be no hierarchy of oppressions among those who share the goals of liberation and a workable future for children. As a poet, she was recognized for her technical mastery and emotional expression, often conveying anger and outrage at civil and social injustices she observed throughout her life. She received numerous national and international awards and was a founding member of Kitchen Table: Women of Color Press. In addition to her poetry, Lorde was a spoken word artist whose performances have been described as powerful, melodic, and intense. Her work largely addresses issues relating to civil rights, feminism, lesbianism, illness, disability, and the exploration of Black female identity.
