Antonin Gregory Scalia was an American jurist who served as an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States from 1986 until 2016. He was recognized as a key figure in the development of originalist and textualist approaches to legal interpretation, which influenced the Court’s conservative wing. Scalia was born in Trenton, New Jersey, and attended Jesuit Xavier High School before earning his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University.
