Anthony Esolen: podcast appearances and interviews

Anthony M. Esolen is a writer, social commentator, translator of classical poetry, and a distinguished professor of humanities at Thales College, having joined the faculty in 2023. He has previously taught at Furman University, Providence College, Thomas More College of Liberal Arts, and Magdalen College of the Liberal Arts. Esolen is known for translating into English notable works such as Dante's Divine Comedy, Lucretius's On the Nature of Things, and Torquato Tasso's Jerusalem Delivered. He is the author of more than 30 books and over 1,000 articles published in a range of outlets including The Modern Age, The Catholic World Report, Chronicles, The Claremont Review of Books, The Public Discourse, First Things, Crisis Magazine, The Catholic Thing, and Touchstone, where he is a senior editor. Esolen is also a poet, with his book-length sacred poem The Hundredfold being acclaimed as a Christian poetic masterpiece. As a Catholic and a scholar known for his conservative and traditionalist views, he writes across topics such as literature, the arts, and social commentary. Previously, he taught for twenty-seven years in the Development of Western Civilization program at Providence College, where he was known for his critique of certain ideas like modern concepts of diversity, which led to campus protests and influenced his decision to leave the institution.
