Annie Fox: podcast appearances and interviews

Maj. Annie G. Fox was born in Canada and later became an American service member. She served as the chief nurse in the Army Nurse Corps at Hickam Field during the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. Fox holds the distinction of being the first woman to receive the Purple Heart for combat, although at the time of her award, the Purple Heart was issued regardless of injury. Following the attack, the criteria for receiving the Purple Heart were changed, and Fox was subsequently awarded the Bronze Star because she had not been wounded during the attack. Her service is notable for her role during a pivotal moment in American military history and for her recognition as a trailblazer among women in the armed forces.
