Ann Martin: podcast appearances and interviews

Ann Martin, born Martha Marmont, is a registered genetic counselor specializing in muscular dystrophy and affiliated with Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy. She previously built a career in journalism and television broadcasting, working as a news anchor for CBS owned-and-operated stations KCBS-TV and KCAL-TV in Los Angeles, California. Martin was born in Portland, Oregon, and raised in Everett, Washington, where her father was employed at the former Everett Western Gear facility. She attended the University of Washington, earning a Bachelor of Arts in communications in 1972. Following her graduation, she began her broadcasting career at KIRO-TV in Seattle as a weather caster and became the first woman in the market to solo anchor a newscast. She later moved to Los Angeles to work for KABC-TV as a reporter and co-anchor. During her tenure there, she co-anchored the Saturday editions of Eyewitness News and the 5 p.m. weekday newscast, a partnership lasting nearly 12 years. Martin also hosted various local programs and served as a substitute host on ABC's Good Morning America. In 1994, she transitioned to KCBS-TV, initially co-anchoring the 5 and 11 p.m. news, later joining other notable journalists and anchors at the station. Her career includes co-hosting a CBS network special and earning multiple awards, including three local Emmy Awards and two Golden Mike awards for her reporting. Martin's broadcasting career concluded around 2008, after which she focused on her role in the medical field.
