Andy Palmer: podcast appearances and interviews

Andrew Charles Palmer, born on June 30, 1963, is an English automotive executive and engineer. He has played a prominent role in the development and launch of electric vehicles, notably contributing to the launch of the Nissan Leaf in 2010 while serving as chief operating officer at Nissan. Palmer is recognized for his influence in the automotive industry and has been described as the 'Godfather of EVs' and the 'éminence grise.' During his tenure as CEO of Aston Martin from 2014 to 2020, he oversaw the launch of the company's first SUV, the DBX, as well as its first mid-engined sports car, the Valkyrie. Palmer's career includes leadership positions at several electric vehicle companies; he was CEO and Executive Vice-chairman of Switch, where he focused on electric buses and vans until his resignation in 2022. In 2023, he was appointed interim CEO of PodPoint. Palmer is also the founder and CEO of Palmer Automotive Ltd, which notably led a bid to acquire Nissan Motor Iberica in Barcelona. He holds positions as chairman of several companies involved in electric vehicle technology, including InoBat, Hilo Ltd, IONETIC, and Brill Power. Outside of the automotive sector, Palmer has been active in public service, having been appointed chairman of the productivity and skills commission of the West Midlands Combined Authority in 2017.
