Andy Long is a former England rugby union player and a performance coach, with an affiliation to Northumbria University. He currently serves as the Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive of Northumbria University, holding this role as the fifth person in the institution's history. Before assuming his current position, Long was a member of staff at the University of Nottingham, where he held the positions of Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor. Prior to that, he served as Dean and later as Pro Vice-Chancellor for the Faculty of Engineering from 2011 to 2018. His background combines athletic experience with academic leadership and strategic management in higher education institutions.
