Andrew Sullivan: podcast appearances and interviews

Andrew Michael Sullivan is a British-American political commentator and Catholic writer. He was born on August 10, 1963, and has lived in the United States since 1984. Sullivan is a former editor of The New Republic and has authored or edited six books. He gained prominence as the founder of the political blog The Daily Dish in 2000 and subsequently migrated his blog to various platforms including Time, The Atlantic, and The Daily Beast before establishing a subscription-based independent format. He retired from blogging in 2015 and later served as a writer-at-large for New York from 2016 to 2020. In July 2020, he launched his newsletter, The Weekly Dish. Sullivan is openly gay and practices Catholicism, and his political views are influenced by his religious background and the ideas of British philosopher Michael Oakeshott. He initially supported neoconservative policies such as the Iraq war beginning in 2001 but expressed disaffection with the Republican Party's shift towards social conservatism during the George W. Bush era. By 2012, Sullivan argued that the Bush-Cheney years had nearly invalidated the logic of neoconservatism and supply-side economics. As of 2023, he describes himself as a liberal conservative. He is also affiliated with the Unfiltered Wine Festival.
