Andrew Maurice Gold was an American multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, and record producer known for his influence on the Los Angeles pop and soft rock sound of the 1970s. He contributed to numerous recordings by other artists, notably Linda Ronstadt, and achieved commercial success with hits such as "Lonely Boy," "Thank You for Being a Friend," and "Never Let Her Slip Away." Gold was a versatile musician, proficient in over a dozen instruments including guitar, bass, keyboards, accordion, synthesizer, harmonica, saxophone, flute, drums, and more obscure instruments like the ukulele, musette, and harmonium. His talents extended beyond performing to roles as a producer, sound engineer, film composer, session musician, actor, and painter. Throughout his career, Gold composed and produced music for films, commercials, and television soundtracks.
