Andrew Bailey, born on 30 March 1959, is an associate professor of philosophy at Yale-NUS College. His academic career is marked by his role in higher education, where he engages in teaching and philosophical research. Prior to his academic appointment, Bailey has held notable positions in the financial sector including serving as the Governor of the Bank of England since 16 March 2020. His previous roles in the Bank of England include being the Chief Cashier from January 2004 until April 2011 under Mervyn King, and the Deputy Governor for Prudential Regulation from April 2013 to July 2016 under Mark Carney. Bailey also served as the Chief Executive of the Financial Conduct Authority from 2016 to 2020.
