Amber Benson is an American actress, writer, director, and producer born on January 8, 1977. She is best known for her role as Tara Maclay on the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which aired from 1999 to 2002. Beyond her portrayal of Tara, Benson has expanded her career to include directing, producing, and starring in her own films. She directed and starred in the films Chance in 2002 and Lovers, Liars & Lunatics in 2006. In 2007, she appeared in the movie Kiss the Bride. Benson also co-directed the film Drones in 2010 alongside fellow Buffy cast member Adam Busch. Additionally, she starred as a waitress in the crime thriller The Killing Jar in 2010.
