Alicia Thompson is the author of Love in the Time of Serial Killers and is affiliated with Ho'ala Publishing House. She was born on July 30, 1976, and has a notable background as a former WNBA basketball player for the Seattle Storm. Raised in Big Lake, Texas, she attended Reagan County High School, where she excelled in basketball, shot put, and discus throw. Thompson was recruited by Texas Tech University during high school and became the school's second all-time leading rebounder and scorer, accumulating 2,156 points during her college career. She also achieved recognition in track and field, particularly in discus, and was named Kodak All-American in her senior year. Additionally, she was voted Big Twelve Player of the Year. Drafted ninth overall by the New York Liberty in the first round of the WNBA draft, she went on to have a successful six-year career in the league, playing for the Liberty, Indiana Fever, and Seattle Storm. Notable performances include a single-game high of 22 points and 15 rebounds with the Fever. During her time with the Storm, she had her best season, averaging 10.0 points, 5.1 rebounds, and shooting over 50% from the field, ranking in the league's top five. In 2004, she contributed to the Storm's first championship in 25 years. After retiring from the WNBA, Thompson continued her professional basketball career in countries including Spain, Italy, Israel, and Turkey. She was inducted into the Texas Tech Athletics Hall of Fame in 2008.
