Alice Wong: podcast appearances and interviews

Alice Wong was an American disability rights activist and writer based in San Francisco, California. She dedicated her career to amplifying the voices and experiences of the disabled community and worked to challenge systemic ableism through storytelling, advocacy, and community organizing. Wong founded the Disability Visibility Project, an oral history initiative in collaboration with StoryCorps, to preserve and share the stories of disabled individuals. She authored a memoir titled Year of the Tiger: An Activist's Life and edited notable collections including Disability Visibility: First-Person Stories from the Twenty-First Century and Disability Intimacy: Essays on Love, Care, and Desire. Her advocacy extended to global issues, exemplified by her co-founding of the 'Crips for eSims for Gaza' project, which has raised millions of dollars to support internet and phone connectivity for Palestinians in Gaza. Recognized for her contributions, Wong was named a MacArthur Fellow in 2024 and served as an appointee to the National Council on Disability in 2013.
