Alex Quilici: podcast appearances and interviews

Alex Quilici is an American engineer and businessman serving as the CEO of YouMail. He is recognized as a leading source of information on robocalls for consumer protection organizations, the Federal Communications Commission, telecom staff, legislators, and national media. Quilici holds a degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and earned a PhD in computer science from UCLA. His career includes work as a freelance technical consultant and a faculty member at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. He co-founded Quackware, a voice portal infrastructure company based in Pittsburgh, along with Steven Woods and Jeromy Carriere. Quilici played a key role in building Quack.com into a company employing 125 professionals within 18 months, leading to its relocation to Silicon Valley and eventual acquisition by America Online in 2000. Following the acquisition, he joined AOL as a vice president and founded the AOL voice services division. During his tenure at AOL, he contributed significantly to the growth of the company's voice services, acquiring one million paying customers and generating substantial revenue. Quilici also served as vice president and chief product officer of AOL by Phone. After his corporate career, he became a professor of electrical engineering at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa and later held positions at NeoEdge Networks and YouMail. Since joining YouMail as CEO in 2007, he has overseen initiatives such as the YouMail Robocall Index, launched in 2015, which monitors robocall traffic across the United States and provides detailed analytics on both legal and illegal calls.
