Abdul El-Sayed: podcast appearances and interviews

Abdul El-Sayed is an American epidemiologist, politician, and former public health official and academic. He served as the director of the Department of Health, Human, and Veterans Services of Wayne County, Michigan, from 2023 to 2025. He is known for his progressive Democratic political stance and has been an active candidate in Michigan politics, including running for governor in 2018 and seeking the Democratic nomination for the United States Senate in Michigan in 2026. El-Sayed is a graduate of the University of Michigan and Oxford University’s Oriel College, where he attended on a full-tuition scholarship and a Rhodes Scholarship, respectively. He earned his medical degree at Columbia University. In addition to his academic pursuits, he was an assistant professor of epidemiology at Columbia University from 2014 to 2015. His career in public health includes serving as the executive director of the Detroit Health Department and as the Health Officer for the City of Detroit from 2015 to 2017.
