Aaron Turner: podcast appearances and interviews

Aaron Turner, born on November 5, 1977, is an American musician, singer, and graphic artist. He is the founder of Hydra Head Records and has been involved in numerous musical projects. Turner gained recognition as the vocalist and guitarist for the post-metal band Isis, with which he was active from 1997 to 2010. In 2014, he formed the band Sumac and in 2024 joined the post-metal band Neurosis. His participation extends to other bands and collaborations such as Old Man Gloom, Lotus Eaters, Greymachine, and Split Cranium, the latter of which was a partnership with Jussi Lehtisalo of Finnish band Circle and toured with Isis in 2009. Originally raised in New Mexico, Turner moved to the Boston area to attend art school, where he founded Isis and Hydra Head Records. In June 2003, he relocated the operations of both the band and the label to Los Angeles, California. He currently resides in Vashon, Washington, which serves as the base of Hydra Head and other activities. Together with his wife Faith Coloccia, Turner founded the record label SIGE in March 2011, which has released material from their musical collaboration Mamiffer. SIGE is distributed by The Business.
