Tauheed Epps, known professionally as 2 Chainz, is an American rapper, songwriter, actor, entrepreneur, and author. Born and raised in College Park, Georgia, he gained recognition as one-half of the Southern hip-hop duo Playaz Circle, alongside rapper Earl Dolla Boy Conyers. The duo signed with Ludacris' Disturbing tha Peace label and are best known for their 2007 debut single Duffle Bag Boy featuring Lil Wayne. In 2012, Epps signed a solo recording contract with Def Jam Recordings. His guest performance on Kanye West's single Mercy marked his first Billboard Hot 100 entry as a solo artist. His debut solo album, Based on a T R U. Story, released that same year, featured hit singles such as No Lie featuring Drake and Birthday Song featuring Kanye West. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, and its single I’m Different achieved top 40 status. His subsequent albums including B.O.A.T.S. II Me Time, ColleGrove, Pretty Girls Like Trap Music, Rap or Go to the League, So Help Me God, and Dope Don't Sell Itself, were met with varying degrees of commercial success. In 2023, he released a collaborative album with Lil Wayne titled Welcome 2 Collegrove, after which he parted ways with Def Jam in 2024. Epps has been recognized with a Grammy Award from six nominations, winning for his feature on Chance the Rapper’s No Problem. His accolades also include multiple BET Awards and BET Hip Hop Awards, and he hosted the Vice TV series Most Expensivest.
