Required Pod Score

Required Pod Score is the minimum guest expertise and media presence level that a podcast typically expects. It represents the bar a guest needs to meet to have a realistic chance of booking a specific show.

How it works

Required Pod Score is derived from the show's own Pod Score, category competitiveness, historical booking patterns, and editorial calibration. It produces four tiers: Accessible (0-34), Selective (35-54), Competitive (55-74), and Premium (75+). Each tier has specific guidance on the guest profile needed to succeed.

Example

A podcast with a Required Pod Score of 70 (Competitive tier) typically books guests who have authored a book, led a company, or have significant prior media appearances. A podcast with a score of 25 (Accessible tier) is open to guests with relevant expertise even without extensive media credentials.
