The Running Industry Diversity Coalition (RIDC) is a nonprofit organization focused on promoting racial justice, equity, and inclusion within the running industry. Established in October 2020, RIDC aims to increase representation and access for historically excluded groups, including Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC). The coalition collaborates with various stakeholders, such as retailers, brands, and local businesses, to ensure that running is accessible to everyone, regardless of their background. RIDC's mission includes amplifying opportunities, providing resources, and fostering connections for health and wellness. The organization emphasizes the importance of diversity in leadership and accountability, while also offering training on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Through research initiatives and educational efforts, RIDC addresses barriers to participation and advocates for systemic change in the industry. Co-chaired by Jasmin Désir and Chris Lampen-Crowell, RIDC works with partners like Brooks Running and Gazelle Sports to drive its mission forward.
