What does Reform Judaism do?

The Union for Reform Judaism (URJ) is the main organization supporting the Reform Jewish movement in North America, representing the largest Jewish denomination in the United States. Founded in 1873 by Rabbi Isaac Mayer Wise, the URJ serves around 1.5 million individuals across approximately 900 member congregations. Originally named the Union of American Hebrew Congregations, it changed its name in 2003 to better reflect its mission. The URJ aims to build vibrant communities that connect people to Judaism and promote social change. It offers a variety of resources, including programmatic support for congregational activities, educational materials for all ages, spiritual guidance, and summer camps for youth.
