L'Autoroute de la Pluie is a collective initiative focused on enhancing landscapes through large-scale agroforestry. The project aims to plant 10 million trees across 260,000 hectares, connecting the Basque Country to the Massif Central. This initiative seeks to improve climatic connectivity, generate coolness and humidity, and address ecological and climate challenges. The project promotes agroecological practices to combat issues like soil erosion and vegetation loss. It emphasizes human mobilization and resilience by demonstrating effective tree planting strategies. The association coordinates communication, fundraising, and partnerships, ensuring a strong vision for the project's longevity. Key activities include planting pioneer trees, supporting natural regeneration, and improving hydrology to mitigate environmental risks. The initiative is set to begin experimental work in 2023, with scaled communication and initial planting efforts starting in 2024.
