The NGO Committee on the Status of Women, New York (NGO CSW/NY) is a coalition of nearly 200 national and international non-governmental organizations dedicated to promoting gender equality and women's rights globally. Established in 1972, it serves as a vital platform for civil society at the United Nations, particularly during the annual Commission on the Status of Women (CSW). The organization connects grassroots efforts with UN processes and advocates for the implementation of key global agreements related to women's empowerment. NGO CSW/NY focuses on advocacy, networking, and education. It organizes the annual NGO CSW Forum, which includes over 750 parallel events, providing a space for activists and advocates to collaborate and engage with UN processes. The organization also hosts monthly open virtual meetings on gender equality topics, offers training and resources for advocacy, and runs the Youth Leaders & Young Professionals initiative to develop leadership skills among young people. Its objectives include facilitating information exchange on women's policies and supporting the implementation of global strategies for women's advancement.
