What does National Urban League do?

The National Urban League (NUL) is a historic, nonpartisan civil rights organization founded in 1910 and based in New York City. It is dedicated to empowering African Americans and underserved communities through economic self-reliance, civil rights, and social justice. As the oldest and largest community-based movement of its kind in the United States, NUL operates with 90-100 local affiliates across 35 states and the District of Columbia, serving over 2-3.8 million people annually in more than 300 communities. NUL focuses on five core pillars: workforce development, education, housing, health, and justice/civic engagement. It provides a range of services, including job placement and training, educational programs, entrepreneurship support, housing assistance, and health equity initiatives. The organization also engages in advocacy and research to promote racial equality and economic empowerment, generating a collective economic impact of $1.2 billion per year.
