Malinche, The Musical is a theatrical production created and directed by Nacho Cano, a founding member of the Spanish band Mecano. The musical tells the historical love story between Malinche, an indigenous translator from Aztec Mexico, and Spanish conquistador Hernán Cortés. It celebrates the cultural blending between Mexico and Spain, known as mestizaje. The production features a mix of musical genres, including flamenco, hip-hop, rock, and pop, along with impressive choreography and elaborate sets. It has captivated over 500,000 spectators since its premiere in Madrid on September 15 and has won the Best Musical award at the 2023 Musical Theatre Awards.
