Kijabe Environment Volunteers (KENVO) is a non-profit organization based in Kimende, Kenya, founded in 1994. It focuses on environmental conservation and community development, particularly in the Kikuyu Escarpment Forest area. KENVO was established by local youth and community members to address forest degradation and has since expanded its mission to include sustainable livelihoods and broader social issues. The organization promotes biodiversity conservation, climate change adaptation, and community empowerment through various programs. These include forest conservation and restoration, environmental education, research, and ecotourism initiatives. KENVO also supports community-led enterprises, such as fuel-efficient stoves, beekeeping, and fish farming, linking conservation efforts with economic opportunities. With over 100 members, KENVO collaborates with various stakeholders, including government agencies, research institutions, and NGOs, to enhance its impact on local communities and the environment.
