What does Hamilton Council do?

Hamilton City Council is the local government authority for Hamilton, located in the Waikato region of New Zealand's North Island. The council consists of the Mayor and 14 councillors who represent the city's citizens. With around 1,182 employees, the council generates an annual revenue of $199.3 million. Lance Vervoort is the Chief Executive, and Hon Tim MacIndoe serves as the Mayor. The council provides a wide range of municipal services, including local roads, water supply, rubbish and recycling management, parks, recreation centres, libraries, and social housing. It also oversees licensing and permits, transport infrastructure, property information, building consents, and community funding programs. Hamilton City Council is dedicated to serving its approximately 57,900 ratepayers and collaborates with community organizations to enhance the wellbeing of residents.
