Freedom Aviation Network (FAN) is a nonprofit organization based in Nashville, Tennessee, dedicated to providing free air transportation for survivors of human trafficking and their advocates. Founded in 2022, FAN emerged from a group of volunteer pilots who began offering their services in 2020. The organization has since expanded to a nationwide network of over 220 pilots across more than 40 states, facilitating over 400 flights for more than 530 passengers in just three years. FAN's mission focuses on addressing the transportation barriers that survivors face, which is a significant obstacle to their escape. The organization offers urgent transportation services to move survivors to safety, restorative care, or legal appointments. Additionally, FAN provides education and advocacy, training pilots and advocates on human trafficking awareness and trauma-informed interactions. Through partnerships with agencies like Homeland Security and various community organizations, FAN plays a vital role in supporting survivors on their journey to freedom and recovery.
